5 non-Korean cafés in Singapore for some Korean aesthetics

Cafes in Singapore

K-Pop has been the biggest thing in Asia for over a decade as many people from all over the world adopt something Korean into their lives. For some, we fall in love with the way Koreans do their make up and skincare, some of us love the way they dress, and some of us adopt their taste buds and somehow have to eat Korean food almost every day.

The café culture in Korea has been really big and it began hitting our shores since a few years back, with many Korean dessert cafés opening up in every corner of Singapore. Today, instead of sharing about the usual Korean cafés in Singapore that we all know about – Coffeesmith, Dal.komm, Omaspoon, etc., we will be bringing to you 5 non-Korean cafés in Singapore.

Cafés that you can visit for other desserts apart from Bingsu, but still get the minimalistic, Korean-ish aesthetics for your Instagram.

#1. LEE’S CONFECTIONERY

Located in the west of Singapore (yay!) is Lee’s Confectionery. Though it requires a bit of travelling from Bukit Batok MRT Station and Jurong East MRT Station, Lee’s Confectionery is just a short walk away from Jurong East Swimming Complex and Water Park, so after your delicious dessert treat, you can hop over to the swimming complex for some exercise.

Lee’s Confectionery serves vegetarian friendly French pastries infused with Asian flavours as stated on their Instagram Bio. Some of their pastries have really interesting names – PUCK and JIAO. PUCK is made with dark chocolate while JIAO is made with Banana, Blueberry and drops of Caramel.

They don’t serve a wide variety of pastries here, but your taste buds will definitely thank you for bringing it on a trip to Lee’s Confectionery.

Before digging into your pastries, remember to take plenty of photos for your Instagram at this beautifully done up minimalistic café, décor-ed with wooden and white furniture.

#2. STARTER LAB BAKERY

Famous for their Sourdough bread, Starter Lab opened their 2nd outlet here in Singapore, with their original outlet in Canggu, Bali. This café/bakery boasts a minimalist and clean outlook, with white walls and glass windows on the front, wooden furniture and green plants on the inside.

Apart from their popular Sourdough bread, you can choose to try out some other dishes they offer. They’ve got sandwiches such as Meaty Mushroom served with Spinach and Ricotta on country whole wheat at $15 and other toasts. For those on a tight budget, go for the simple Thick Toast served with complementary butter and a choice of jam that you can get at a low price of $7.

Pet owners can even bring your pets along with you and enjoy your toast outside on their counter seats. Remember to capture the happy faces on your pets and post them onto Instagram for more likes! (hehe)

No reservations.

Located right opposite Somerset MRT Station, inside TripleOne Somerset is Glyph Supply Co, a very minimalistic, instagrammable café. With its huge glass panels, the natural sunlight in the day reflects off the white surfaces within the café, making the space look even brighter and inviting.

You’ll definitely be able to get a good shot for your Instagram over here as the colour scheme and concept is constant throughout the entire café, photos taken from any and every angle will look good.

Address: 111 Somerset Rd, #01-06, Singapore 238164

Operating hours: Monday to Friday: 8.30AM to 7.30PM
Saturday & Sunday: 10AM to 7.30PM

Five Oars Coffee Roasters offer an extensive brunch menu served from 8.30AM to 4.30PM and dinner from 5PM to 9PM. You can check out their full menu here.
