Jakarta, 1 February 2013 — U-Kiss was scheduled to hold their fan party in Jakarta on 1 and 2 February 2013. As stated in Oppa Oppa Live’s press release in our last article, the fan party will be postponed to 26 and 27 April 2013 due to the poor weather condition in Jakarta. U-Kiss is very concerned of their Indonesian fans and other people who became flood victims in Jakarta. As stated by Kim Young Hoon, CEO of Oppa Oppa Live, “This is not the right time to throw a party”, so they decided to postpone the event and create a charity event instead of a fan party.
Two U-Kiss members, Kevin and Soohyun attended the press conference and charity event on Friday 1 February 2013 in f(x) Jakarta. In the press conference, Kevin said hello to Indonesian Kiss Mes who came to the press conference. He said, “It is very hard for us to postpone the showcase, is it ok for you guys?” he also added, “We are very concerned of Indonesian fans’ condition, and we think it’s a right decision to postpone the showcase schedule. We really love you guys.” He also added that they will release their album in March, so U-Kiss will sing their new song on their upcoming showcase for Indonesian fans.
The promoter said that there won’t be any changes in the fan party concept. In the upcoming fan party, U-Kiss will still be very close to their fans. To support flood victims in Jakarta, they will also donate money from the fan party ticket sales for the flood victims. “We are very sorry because we came today for charity session instead of showcase or concert as we are very concerned for Jakarta’s flood victims. We want to help them and we are very happy because our fans are ok”, said Soohyun.
For their charity, U-Kiss did an auction in this session. They sold their personal stuffs such as t-shirts and CDs. In this charity event they sold their autographed ‘Stop Girl’ CDs for 1 Million and 2.5 Million rupiah. The rest of the auctioned items will be available on Oppa Oppa Live’s website. All money received from the auction will be donated to the flood victim children in Muara Baru, Jakarta. Kevin and Soohyun bought them stationery and toys and also went to the flood shelters to cheer on the kids who lived there.
The charity event is supported by Mutiara Bank and Wahana Visi Indonesia, a well-known NGO which focused on children affairs and natural disasters. Priscilla Christin, Donor Acquisition Manager of Wahana Visi Indonesia said, “We appreciate U-Kiss’ concern and their willingness to help the kids. They even came here from Korea to help them and even postponed their showcase schedule. Not all celebrities would want to come by themselves to the flood shelters. We hope U-Kiss can be an inspiration for Indonesian youths and other people to share and help those who are in need.”
Kevin added, “Maybe what we do is not a big deal compared to what the flood victims face right now. We are very concerned for Indonesian people. Our heart will always be with you.” Oppa Oppa Live said sorry and thank you for Indonesian Kiss Me’s understanding about the event reschedule, “We believe the fans will understand and keep supporting the charity session with U-Kiss”
