[Swag Check] S/S2015 Fashion trends spotted at Samsung Fashion Steps Out @ Orchard 2015

The annual Samsung Fashion Steps Out @ Orchard 2015 (FSO) has returned once again, with the Orchard Fashion Runway taking place last Saturday night on the longest outdoor runway in Singapore – none other than the iconic Orchard Road. With over 170 models, the event literally stopped traffic as the main road was closed off and the models strutted down Orchard Road.

12 brands were featured on the runway this year, including Ashley Islam, DEPRESSION, PAULINE.NING, max.tan and PAULINE.NING. 5 local designers also presented their collection with their outlook of SG Next50 years.

KAvenyou will feature some of our favourite styles and the more striking styles as well (accompanied with good looking models).

1. DEPRESSION

KAvenyou’s all-time favourite brand is DEPRESSION, a local streetwear label by duo Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh. Their SS15 collection DEPRESSION VOL. 1 was showcased at Fashion Steps Out 2015, as part of the SG Next50 years collection. According to their website, “the unisex label is heavily influenced by street goth and punk sub-cultures“, and hence the monochrome colours used for their clothings as well. I can easily visualise many Korean idols rocking these pieces at the back of my head already.

2. Ashley Isham

Having recently returned from London Fashion Week, Ashley Isham has brought his FW15 collection that was showcased there, to the roads of Singapore here. Before even seeing the clothes up-close, the audience could already tell what was the main component of the clothings – bells. (Thiis kind of reminds me of Running Man somehow…) I like how the bells are incorporated into the clothings to make them aesthestically appealing and loud, literally. I can imagine flamboyant celebrities like Lady Gaga wearing this collection to an awards ceremony… they’ll make a grand (or maybe loud) entrance for sure.

3. Mary Katrantzou

Known for having pioneered the digital printing technique, you may also find Mary Katrantzou‘s designs familiar as she has worked with several major brands such as Adidas and H&M. Besides her signature loud and bold prints, the designer also played with fabric and textures, adding some sheer element to the collection.

If you have missed the Orchard Fashion Runway last Saturday, you can still head down to Paragon Atrium 1 to view the SG Next50: Fashion Futurism exhibition featuring 50 outfits on display, from 17 April – 24 May 2015.
