5 March 2015, Singapore – Hello people! Welcome back to Swag Check Thursday! And finally it’s the final day of Chinese New Year, it’s 15th day of the Lunar New Year. We hope everybody are doing fine, eating good food and most importantly, winning big money! We will be introducing interesting fashion labels, news and tips of and from your favourite idols on every Thursday!
Let’s sidetrack the fashion topic today and not focus it on idols. The main highlight of the day will be THE SIMPSONS FAMILY! Are you a fan of The Simpsons Family? Well, I’m not a fan of the animation. However, after watching ‘The Simpsons Movie’ in 2007, I got to admit that I like the animation quite a lot. It’s the kind of humour that attracted me.
I know one of the Kpop idol who is a big fan of ‘The Simpsons’. She is no other than 4Minute’s Kim HyunA. (And I’m a 4Nia who is a big fan of HyunA!)
As you can see, HyunA is a big fan of ‘The Simpsons’, even her display picture on her Instagram profile is a picture of ‘Homer Simpson’. HyunA updated her Instagram and showcased her love for ‘The Simpsons’. The iPhone case that HyunA is using is ‘Homer Simpson’ with Donuts.
Okay, let’s go back to our today topic on Fashion. But wait a second, if you are wondering how can ‘The Simpsons’ and fashion make sense? They don’t really match right?
What the Simpsons Family wore in the animations are just boring right? How does it match today’s Fashion topic? Hmmmm, wait till you see the photos below!
Illustrator Tommy Bates gave the main characters from ‘The Simpsons’ an extreme makeover by merging his streetwear obsession onto the key characters of ‘The Simpsons’. The characters are wearing streetwear brands from their top to bottoms, and including the footwears. Some streetwear brands that illustrator Tommy Bates used are Supreme, Nike, BAPE, HBA, Stussy, Adidas, Vans and many more.
The extreme makeover of ‘The Simpsons’ by Tommy Bates is totally awesome right? All of them look SWAG right? I personally think that Bart Simpson’s combo is the best as Supreme and North Face Leopard print jacket totally matches the Red Nike high-cut sneakers. I love Camo prints so I would like to have Homer Simpson’s Bape coat if Singapore is a cooling country.
Which combo by ‘The Simpsons’ do you think is the best?
