22 September 2012, Singapore – KIM SO JUNG (김소정), one of the Top11 finalist of MNET’s Superstar K2, set her foot on the shores of Singapore for the third time but for a different purpose this time round. She was the main act for KPOPGAGA’s 2nd showcase “KPOPGAGA PREVIEW” at the Cathay Cineleisure.
KIM SO JUNG kick-started the showcase with her second single “BLAP”, a bubbly song complemented by jumpy moves and cutesy hand gestures. She followed that up by displaying her powerful vocals with ‘Queen InHyun’s Man’ (인현왕후의 남자) OST, “You have come” (그대가 왔죠), which was very familiar to the fans present.
After the showcase, a press conference was held at the picturesque poolside of KPOPGAGA partners Oasia Hotel. It is the most beautiful location we have ever seen from a local press conference for K-pop events as yet. With the Singapore skyline as the backdrop, the press conference began and below as a transcript of the session.
Q: Have you considered branching into acting in dramas or movies?
A: For now, I just want to focus on singing first. If I have any opportunities in the future, I would like to learn acting before acting in dramas and movies.
Q: Is there any male or female singers that you would like to work with in future?
A: If I have any chance, I hope to work with BIGBANG’s T.O.P.
Q: You took on a very different image in your newly released single “BLAP”, what prompted this change?
A: I am looking forward to different styles and genres of songs. Maybe you guys can look forward to cheerful, bubbly and other styles of songs.
Q: This is your first time performing in Singapore, how do you find the fans in the country so far?
A: This is my 3rd visit to Singapore, I find my Singapore fans different from Korean fans, but I feel the same hotness and warmth from the fans.
Q: Many fans would perhaps know you from being a finalist in SuperStar K2.Would you like to share more about yourself that your fans do not know, or something that you want them to know.
A: During Superstar K2, I showed more dance and cheerful songs than sad and moody songs. I actually love sad, moody songs and also rock songs. I will try more genres of songs in my future albums, please look forward to it.
Q: Can you describe yourself in 3 words?
A: Dreams Come True. I have been quite successful with my dreams as I had wanted to be a singer since young. I hope that I can continue to go after my dreams.
Q: What are your plans after this?
A: I hope to visit other South East Asian countries and then concerts in Korea.
Q: What would you like most of the fans, and those who attended the showcase to remember you by?
A: I hope they remember me as a ‘hard-working’ singer.

A: As mentioned earlier, if I have any chances I would like to try acting roles that suits my style.
Q: Most KPop singers in Korea would go for auditions at various companies and became trainees instead of studying. What makes you choose a different path in joining Superstar K?
A: I have always wanted to be a singer since I was young. Since everybody was studying, I could not chase after my dreams when I was young so I joined SuperStar K.
Q: We know that you graduated from a prestigious institution in Korea. How did your parents react when you told them that you wanted to be a singer?
A: Last time, my parents did not really support me in becoming a singer. After I was successful in the Superstar K auditions, my parents saw how I improved and got better, and they gave me a lot of support.
Q: Your image is very cute and sweet. A lot of idols are going after a more mature and sexy image. Do you have any plans to change your image?
A: I cannot change my concept. I may change my concept depending on the song styles that are suitable for me.
Q: Superstar K4 is currently aired in Korea. As a senior, what advice do you have for the contestants?
A: Although you might be nervous during the auditions, but you should just give it your best and enjoy yourself at the audition, so that the audience can enjoy your performance.
Q: Is there anything you would like to say to your fans in Singapore?
A: I really had a fun time here and am thankful for this period of time. I promise all my fans that I will try my best in the future, so that you guys can look forward and give me your support! Thank you!
