This season saw the return of many past contestants as well as powerful rookies such as WoodieGo Child, Woo Wonjae, Ness, BlackNine and Jo Woochan all of whom are part of the top 16. The season finale was broadcast live on the 1st of September at 11pm KST. One of the top 3 will be eliminated in the 1st round while the remaining two will compete in the final round to determine the winner. Points are calculated in Korean won and is made up of 50% voting by the live audience and 50% voting via SMS.

MOVE –– Woo Wonjae (feat. Bizzy)
Total Money Earned: 6,175,000won
Born Expert –– Nucksal (Feat. Dynamic Duo & DJ Friz)
Total Money Earned: 6,925,000won
bestdriverZ –– Hangzoo (feat. Dean & Zion.T)
Total Money Earned: 6,375,000won
Round 2 –– Nucksal v. Hangzoo
Even When The Curtain Falls –– Nucksal
Total Money Earned: 9,400,000
Nucksal took on the stage by himself without features from any artists, showcasing his skills to enchant and engage purely with his rap. It is a brave move considering that everyone else in the competition pretty much used all the feature artists they could get. The song had a catchy hook that was a combination of his rap and background vocals and encompasses the vibes of the Dynamic Duo team.
Turn It Up –– Hangzoo (Feat. DJ DOC)
Total Money Earned: 9,450,000
Hangzoo’s performance was well, a party. Zico explicitly stated in an inteview that Hangzoo’s final stage was going to be just like the hit songs he produced in the past –– all of which has strong beats and a hook that makes the song an ear worm. Notable examples are ‘Okey Dokey’ and ‘Say It! Yes or No’. His stage also featured popular veteran artist DJ DOC which further helped to hype the crowd.
Nucksal lost to Hangzoo by a tiny margin of just 50,000won, further emphasising that both rappers are well-liked by the masses and have proved themselves equally in the final rounds as well as throughout the season.
As we all know, the production team of Show Me The Money loves to toy with our feelings and decided to bring back several rappers for a special stage. The participants were rappers who were well-liked by the audience but eliminated prematurely.
Show Me The Money (Special stage by Penomeco, Punchnello, Ignito, BlackNine, Oltii, Hashswan, Sleepy)
Bizzy seemed to slip a couple of words at around 3:13 of MOVE and while he managed to recover, he seemed to be pretty breathless throughout the entire song and continued to miss words here and there. He was seemingly fine the entire season but it’s a pity that he had to make a mistake at a crucial stage. When Wonjae was eliminated, he apologised heavily to the audience and Wonjae and couldn’t hide his disappointed expression.
Oltii’s known for being one of the most unfortunate eliminations due to his extraordinary freestyle rap skills. However, during the special stage at around 2:20, he seems to trip over a few words but he managed to carry on after pausing for a second. Kudos to Oltii for recovering but it was definitely a waste of a good chance to redeem himself.
All in all, it has been a good season and hopefully Show Me The Money will withstand the 7-year curse and come up with more seasons that can feed our thirst for good hip hop music!
