KPop and Hallyu fans were given a taste of JPop from the popular reality show Produce 48, which concluded a couple of months back. The winning members that made up debut team IZ*ONE, would also be making their official debut on 29 October 2018. Even losing finalist and current AKB48 member Miyazaki Miho, gained contrasting support from Korean fans for being an avid K-Pop fan; but suffered from anti fans back in Japan.
Korean fans were seen to embrace fellow supporters of the Hallyu culture, but these Japanese are often wary in showing their support openly back home. Come December, fellow Hallyu supporter and K-Pop fan Riona Hamamatsu; will be making her first overseas appearance in Singapore.
It is no secret that this former AKB48 Team 8 member is a huge fan of K-Pop. She speaks fluent English, and is not a bad dancer at all. Having graduated from AKB48 back in 2017, she has been showcasing herself as a solo artist; engaging her fans actively through Instagram LIVE and other SNS platforms. She also released her first solo single “Never Give Up!!” in August.
Here’s some of her dance covers of various K-Pop hits, some of which she would have improvised a little as well. Enjoy!
