7th February 2012 – K-Pop fans gathered at the Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport in order to welcome 2PM, U-Kiss, T-Ara, BEAST, 4Minute, SHINee, Sistar and Girls’ Generation who came to participate in the Music Bank K-Pop Festival in Paris.
The concert has been held the next day in Paris Bercy, a big venue where the biggest international stars already performed. Caramba, the promoter of the event, explained that the high quality of the show and the hard work of the artists were enough to justify such a big K-Pop event in Europe.
During the press conference, the artists expressed their happiness to be able to perform in Paris. As SNSD and SHINee members were glad to meet again with the passionate European audience, T-Ara’s Soyeon also said to be proud to work hard in order to represent Korea abroad.
U-Kiss’ Kevin also said to be happy to be part of the Music Bank world tour, as it was a great and rare opportunity to meet with fans all around the world, as the world tour should also stop in Los Angeles, San Paolo and other countries…
KBS indeed wishes that the Music Bank world tour will help promoting K-Pop globally and will be a way to increase exchanges between young people all around the world.
Indeed, the audience was not only composed of french people: fans from Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Spain or even Peru came to support their favorite groups with lightsticks, towels, banners and loud fanchants. Despite negative temperatures, fans started to queue at 5:00 a.m. in order to get the best spot. A 2PM fan said: “We want them to feel loved, because it may be our best chance to make them want to come back for a solo concert, or maybe for a JYPE concert. So to support them, we bought the lightsticks, and made banners and T-shirts”.
The concert opened on the song “Aux Champs Elysées”, interpreted by all the groups . The french fans greatly appreciated the efforts to sing in french, as well as Kevin’s effort to speak in french and 2PM’s “Levez vos mains”, the french translation of “Put your hands up”.
As the groups were performing hit songs such as “So Cool”, “Hands up”, “Fiction”, “The Boys”, “Lucifer” or “Neverland”, the audience were cheering them up, singing and dancing along. The heated atmosphere seemed to please the artists, as Nichkhun tweeted just a few minute after 2PM’s performance to express his wish to come back soon.
On a side note, Music Bank also attracted the attention of local media. Many TV channels and newspapers reported on the concert and tried to explain the Korean wave. SNSD particularly attracted the media’s attention, as they were also promoting “The Boys”, the first Korean album to be officially released in France.
We will like to take the opportunity to thank Caramba Spectacles, 109 Prod and KBS for bringing this wonderful concert to Paris, and Korean Connection for inviting us to the show.
