Korean Hip Hop Duo LEESSANG successfully completed their first Asia Showcase in Malaysia, the final station for the tour. The showcase started around 7:30PM and lasted for an hour long at Kenanga Wholesale City Mall, Kuala Lumpur on 11 January 2014.
Gary and Gill kick started the show with the first song of the night – Modesty is Difficult. Despite that it was an all-seated-show, all the fans of LEESSANG stood up immediately to cheer and sing along with them once the duo took up the stage. It was quite a surprise to see majority of the fans singing along with the lyrics as most of LEESSANG’s songs include rapping. The show then continued with them performing I Turned Off the TV, You’re the Answer to a Guy Like Me and Woman Who Can’t Break Up, Man Who Can’t Leave the Woman.
A VCR of Gill on Infinity Challenge and Gary on Running Man was shown during the short break when the both left the stage. Judging from the loud scream, we could tell that 80% of the crowd that night was Monday Couple (Gary and Song Jihyo’s couple name on Running Man) shippers. LEESSANG then reappeared on the stage for a short Q&A session. One of the highlights of the night must be when the question ‘who is your ideal girl?’ being asked. Gill answered Song Ji Hyo without any hesitation and Gary answered Song Ji Hyo as well with a smile on his face, making the Monday Couple fans gone wild again. Gary also praised that Malaysian girls are so beautiful, in English. As for their New Year resolution, Gill hoped that he could come back to Malaysia and perform for the fans again while Gary wished for everyone’s happiness and he would like to come back again together with the Running Man members.
Six lucky fans were picked beforehand to join LEESSANG on stage for the game session. The first game was called Couple Game which Gary and Gill together with their partners will have to stand on a piece of newspaper and fold it smaller and smaller as the game goes on. Gill jokingly said ‘why does it have to be a man?’ because the two fans chosen for the game were boys. The fanboys made all the girls jealous as they received hugs and piggybacks from Gary and Gill during the game. Lastly, Gary’s team defeated Gill’s team. The next game was Survival Game (musical chair). The crowd literally went crazy when Gary sat on a fangirl’s laps and let her hugged him from the back!
Moving on to the show, LEESSANG performed four hits: It’s a Laugh Behind Sadness, Ballerino, Gary and Gill and Clown before the encore stage came on. Gary mentioned for the second time that he would like to bring the Running Man members with him to come to Malaysia again! The duo changed into their LEESSANG 1st Asia Showcase t-shirts and wore their famous LEESSANG snapbacks for the encore stage. Let Us Meet Right Now was definitely the most well-known song for LEESANG Malaysian fans and the showcase officially ended with the song Rush.
