As we enter the new year, many Korean dramas (as always) have been making the scenes all over the internet, with strong casts and interesting plots to draw us into watching. While widely publicised K-dramas have gotten the attention of many fan girls (and boys) with charming actors and actresses, there are certain dramas, underneath it all, with the best plots I’ve ever come across. Let me share them with you!
Main cast: Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo, Cho Jin Woong
Sypnosis: A mysterious walkie-talkie allows a rookie detective in the 1980s to communicate with a jaded cold case profiler in 2015 through radio transmissions. As they work together to solve crimes and preventing them from even happening, they realise that their actions have dire consequences, consequences that are closer to home than they ever imagined.
After watching the first episode, I was immediately sucked in into the plot. What drew me in even more was how the characters solved crimes in possibly the most epic way ever, coupled with how the characters developed through the show will have you sitting at the edge of the chair wanting more. The show is filled with so many plot twists that it is baffling and intriguing to watch at the same time. If you’re a fan of mystery, crime and fantasy altogether, this is definitely a must-watch show. Though I must admit the beginning of the show will get you confused a little, but you will quickly catch up in no time. 10 out of 10, period.
2. Remember – War of Son
Main cast: Yoo Seung Ho, Park Min Young, Park Sung Woong, Jung Hye Sung, Namgung Min
Sypnosis: Seo Jin-woo (Yoo Seung Ho) is an attorney who has a special condition, Hyperthymesia, which allows him to remember everything in extreme detail. When his father, a man with Alzheimer’s disease, is wrongly accused of murder and sentenced to death, he vows to seek justice for him using his ability. But with a barrier of corruption, bribery, betrayals and HIS own onset of Alzheimer’s, will he be able to save his dad before time runs out…for good?
Here’s a tip before you embark on this journey: prepare a box of tissues. Can I also just say that this movie is not only just heartwarming watching a filial son going all out for his ill father, you’ll learn a little bit of life lessons from every single character and that is personally something rather commendable of the producers and writers. Again with the unique storyline, this drama has brought me on set just like a real character and so will you. All sorts of emotions from anguish, sadness, feeling injustice etc. will be felt throughout the drama but this is definitely one show not to be missed.
