Influence Asia 2015, the largest social media award show in Asia, has certainly lived up to expectations of bringing a fantastic show to the audience. Produced by Gushcloud, an influencer marketing network based in Southeast Asia, and hosted by Yello Digital Marketing (YDM) Group, South Korea’s fast-growing digital marketing group, the inaugural run of Influence Asia was held at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre and featured a star-studded line up of special guests and award presenters. To say Influence Asia is a unique award show is a bit of an understatement, and here’s why.
1) The line-up for guests and presenters
From popular local social media stars Tosh Zhang and Night Owl Cinematics to the adored Baby Yebin, Korean rapper Jay Park and even SNSD’s Tiffany, the list just keeps getting better and better. These guests and presenters were the epitome of popularity and ruled the award show each time they appeared, be it at the red carpet or on stage, even if it was just a short amount of time. Stars like Yebin and Jay Park made the crowd melt with their charms whereas Tiffany kindly accepted hugs and selfies with the winners!
2) Red carpet emcees and audience interaction
One notable thing at the red carpet was that the emcees not only took note of who was coming out when, but also did not forget about the sea of endearing fans, some of whom have been at the venue since 10pm the previous night! Along with 987FM’s resident DJ Gerald Koh as the main red carpet emcee, influencers Jeneen Goh and Chermaine See spent some time and efforts in hand-picking and recognising the faces of a few lucky fans to point out to Jay Park and Tiffany when they arrive (which they eventually did flawlessly)! It was nice to see the emcees taking the effort to remember the fans’ faces and their names, making sure they get the right people!
3) The hilarious award show emcees
As the emcees, local hip hop artiste Sheikh Haikel and Canadian YouTube personality Peter Chao did a great job in easing the tension with the never-ending humour while the nominees anticipated the results. Their on-stage chemistry was adored by the crowd and it came in handy when they made mistakes with the appearance of guest performers; they were quickly forgiven.
4) The party-like performances
Audiences at the award show were treated to an amazing line-up of performances, including Indonesian songstress Raisa and Redfoo, one half of American electronic dance duo LMFAO, who brought the house down with elaborate sets and props, turning the hall into a concert arena as they rocked the crowd with their infectious dance move!
5) Both and New Year exclusive interview (!!!)
