Grandest K-pop Convention in the Philippines to wow Pinoy K-pop fans in Manila by year-end

While K-pop fans all over the world look forward to the year-end award shows in Korea, K-pop fans in the Philippines have the annual Philippine K-pop Convention or “K-pop Con,” to look forward to.
Organized by the Philippine K-pop Committee, Inc. (PKCI), the K-pop Con, which happens only every December, is well known in the local K-pop community for being the biggest and grandest fan gathering in the Philippines. What makes K-Pop Con distinct and unique is that it not only celebrates the Filipino fans’ passion and love for K-pop music, but also promotes the importance of giving back, serving as a fundraiser for PKCI’s partner charitable organizations Gawad Kalinga, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), and PKCI’s chosen student beneficiaries.
Now on its fifth year, PKCI has teamed up with Pulp Live World—one of the country’s biggest concert producers that has brought K-pop superstars Super Junior, 2NE1, and C.N. Blue to Pinoy fans—to put up an event that would take the K-pop Con experience to a whole new level!
What started as a small fund-raising event that gathered about 2,000 K-pop fans in Starmall Alabang in 2009 has grown throughout the years, with last year’s K-pop Con in PICC Forums 1-3 gathering an estimated 6,500 fans. This year, an even larger crowd is expected to flock to SMX Convention Center Halls 1 and 2 on December 28, 2013 for a full day of nothing but great K-pop fun.
As with the previous years, over 60 PKCI-affiliated fanclub activity booths and over 60 K-Pop merchandise booths will fill up an entire hall to create a fun and exciting K-Pop bazaar. K-pop Con goers this year can also enjoy a two-stage setup wherein various performances, contests (such as the Dance Battle Year, Singing Star, and Idol Look-Alike), a special runway show for Global Fashion Brand Basic House Philippines, free Korean classes and seminars will be held. Cool activities await those who drop by the booth of long-trusted Philippine brand Standard Appliances, which gave away K-Pop Con 5 tickets to the winners of its music video-making contest! PKCI also proudly introduces its new affiliate in the K-Pop community—the Bicol KPOP Convention!
To top it all off, PKCI and Pulp Live World will be bringing four Korean boy groups—Boyfriend, LC9, Lunafly, and A.Cian—to perform and hold a fanmeet exclusively at K-pop Con 5!
With two of the Philippines’ K-pop authorities coming together for the grandest K-pop year-end event, this year’s Philippine K-pop Convention is without a doubt bigger and grander than ever and is surely an event not to be missed!
