Jakarta April 30, 2013 – Riding on the Hallyu Wave that spread all over the world and following the success of GALAXY SUPERSTAR Season 2, now YS Media marked the GALAXY SUPERSTAR Season 2 arrival with a press conference on April 30, 2013 at ANTV Epicentrum Studio Complex. GALAXY SUPERSTAR is one of the credible talent search event in Indonesia that looking for the next superstar that has the will, passion and talent in singing and dancing. In the season 2 of this event, there are more than 1500 applicants that listed in audition stage that already held in 7 cities in Indonesia; Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Semarang, Palembang, Makassar and Pontianak.
ANTV, as one of the best TV Station in Indonesia, takes the wheel to broadcast the GALAXY SUPERSTAR 2. The broadcast show is already started on every Friday since April 26, 2013, and hosted by an Indonesian lovely MC, Franda. In every episode of the show, GALAXY SUPERSTAR 2 will show mind blowing actions for the next superstar through their voice and dance skills with the glamour outfits and energetic choreography.
Out of all the applicants, there were around chosen 30 finalists entitled to get into the 3 months training program to be the next superstar. During their training days, the finalists will get professional vocal training from Bowo ‘Soulmate’ and Nina Tamam. They also get the chance to be trained by South Korean dance trainer professional, ‘The Dance’ that are known is linked with the top K-Pop artists, this training also including the trainer by ‘Forever Dance Crew’ and ‘SAE Institute’. The music directors, Benny Zuniar and Inu Numata, are also going to be joining the training program to give several pointers and directions to the finalists. Then the finalists’ performance will be judge by 3 Indonesian best artists and musician; Rio Febrian, Pongki ‘Jikustik’ and Astrid. The thing that made GALAXY SUPERSTAR Season 2 is different than the Season 1 is the training program that received by the finalists. If in the season 1 the finalists got the chance to get their training at in South Korea, in season 2 the trainer was brought straight from the South Korea to Indonesia to train the bigger number of the finalists.
The press conference itself was opened by the performance from the magnificent boy group S4, the winner of GALAXY SUPERSTAR Season 1. On this occasion, S4 performed ‘Mungkin’, a remake of 2AM’s song ‘I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me’, and their own song, ‘Driving Me Crazy’. The press conference is attended by Mrs. Herti Purba (Production Deputy Director of ANTV), Mr. Louis Go (Marketing Director of YS Media Entertainment) and Mr. Kwak Yong Geun (Producer of The Dance), alongside the judges and the trainers. Another super girl group that born from the GALAXY SUPERSTAR Season 1, S.O.S, and 32 finalists of the Season 2 were also attended this occasion. They were all hoping for the next superstars that born form GALAXY SUPERSTAR Season 2 will have the capabilities to bring variations and creativeness in Indonesian entertainment scene, as well as the world’s scene. In the meanwhile, Kavenyou managed snatched a short exclusive interview with the producer of The Dance, Mr. Kwak Yong Geun. Here’s how it goes:
Kavenyou (KAV): What’s making The Dance, in this case Mr. Kwak, agree to participate in GALAXY SUPERSTAR Season 2?
Kwak Yong Geun (KYG): Because I’ve seen the K-Pop influence in Indonesia and the growing potential of Indonesian Pop (I-Pop). I’ve also witnessed the success of GALAXY SUPERSTAR Season 1. That’s why I want to join.
KAV: Being linked to the likes of Brown Eyed Girl and Cube Entertainment, what’s your expectation from the finalists?
KYG: I want to train them in K-Pop style. I wish to see them to be like the other K-Pop superstars.
KAV: So, there will be a chance for Indonesian pop group to be collaborated with K-Pop artists or even debut in South Korea?
KYG: Of course. I’ve heard the Indonesian music, I enjoy them. I’m now thinking to make the K-Pop style with Indonesian songs.
KAV: Is there any message you want to share with the finalists?
KYG: The most important thing for them is to work hard and be diligent. Their efforts will be shown as they do well on the stage.
