21 May 2013 – K-drama fans of Malaysia had a date with Jo in Sung, the charming lead actor of ‘That Winter, The Wind Blows’ on 21 May in Paradigm Mall thanks to the organizer, S One HD.

Fans have started queuing up long before the event started and by 7.30pm, the whole floor was already crowded with fans. When Jo In Sung finally showed up on stage, he was immediately amazed by the hot response of Malaysian fans.

During the Q&A session, Jo In Sung revealed that the most memorable scene from the drama was the Cotton Candy Scene and he was very happy to be able to work with so many talented actors and actresses such as Song Hye Kyo, Kim Beom and Eunji through this drama. He also admitted that he is very similar to his character, Oh Soo in real life as he portrayed the character sincerely.

When asked does he want to lead a normal life, Jo In Sung answered wittily, saying that after today, he thinks it’s just better to live as a celebrity. And if he wasn’t an actor, he would have continued doing taekwondo. Jo In Sung also mentioned that if he were an animal, he would choose to be a giraffe but since Kwang Soo is more famously known for it, he wanted to be born as a puppy instead.

Jo In Sung even spilled that the craziest gift he has ever received from a fan was an iguana, but he has given it to another person who can take better care of it and his favourite ice cream flavour is vanilla choco. When requested to do kwiyeomi by the fans, Jo In Sung said he had no idea what kwiyeomi is and he would go back and practice it to show us next time.

After that, a mini game session was held and Jo In Sung were to be the judge of the game. 3 couples were chosen to re-enact the famous Cotton Candy Scene from the drama and in the end, the second couple won because Jo In Sung said that he felt that they showed him what a true couple who were in love was like.

Before he left the stage, Jo In Sung thanked everyone who came for the event as he really did not expect to see such a massive crowd. He even apologized for not being able to have eye contact with each and every single one of the fans and wished a lucky fan ‘Happy Birthday’ after seeing a fanboard. And last but not least, he promised that he will come back and visit Malaysia again.

G-Dragon, of Big Bang, and Tae Yang recently helped CL with her new solo album. On May 21, YG Entertainment announced, “G-Dragon and Tae Yang are going to appear in CL’s music video of her new song without pay. Since the filming of the video has just finished, we’ll have to wait and see how well it is received. Singers represented by our agency often appear in each other’s music videos without pay. Se7en and Tae Yang also appeared in G-Dragon’s music video of ‘MichiGo.’

CL’s solo album, which is her first since her debut four years ago, will be unveiled on May 28.

19 May 2013 – The last official event of A-PRINCE’s schedule that took place in Singapore in conjunction with their first ever showcase here was their meet & greet session, held at J-Cube shopping mall. The meet & greet session was free and open to all, as a way to thank fans for supporting them during their first visit to Singapore.

At the A-PRINCE’s meet & greet session, the boys also performed 2 songs – Hello and their new track Mambo, delighting fans who did not manage to see them perform at their showcase or those who wanted to see them perform once again. To commemorate their last event with the fans in Singapore, A-PRINCE also took a group photo on stage with the fans present.

This was followed by the much-anticipated hi-5 session with the members of A-PRINCE, where priority was given to ticket holders of the showcase held the day before. Fans were happily giving their favourite boys hi-5s and cheering them on before they returned back to Korea the next day. Bright smiles were seen on the A-PRINCE boys’ faces throughout the entire meet & greet session and as they bid farewell to their fans, promising to be back again in Singapore soon!

Singapore, 23 May 2013 – History was made tonight as the first ever Social Star Awards shone a beaming light on the world of social media, wowing audiences in Singapore and across the globe with some of the most dynamic and unique set pieces and collaborations from the world’s biggest celebrities and internet sensations. Never before has there been a recognition and celebration of what the global social community like, follow, view, tweet and share each and every day and as the social sphere continues to grow, never has there been such great a need!

In an award show that dazzled and astounded social media fans assembled in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, as well as fans watching live on YouTube from across the globe, the very biggest awards were reserved for the most high profile social media stars in the world.  The live Social Star Awards were the pinnacle to an amazing 24 hours of virtual awards where stars from all over the world were recognized for their popularity in the world of social media.

The  night began with a bang as the Red Carpet was filled with the biggest YouTube stars of the past 12 months – Hikakin, Harlem  Shake, Tummy Talk, Marquese Scott , Ryan Higa and Wrecking Crew, PewDiePie and some of the world’s most famous stars including Aerosmith, PSY, Jermaine Jackson, George Takei, Carly Rae Jepsen and CeeLo Green.

The high octane awards kicked off with an opening performance from American Rock Legends Aerosmith who are set to wow Singapore this weekend with their first ever concert in the city.

They blew the roof of the theatre with blistering performances of their most iconic hits such as Crying and Don’t Want to Miss a Thing before performing an unforgettable rendition of the bands all time classic, Walk This Way with beat boxer Hikakin one of the most high profile and talented social media stars of 2013.

Not content with one world exclusive, the Social Star Awards presented yet another world first in the form of the very firstHarlem Shake to be performed and broadcast LIVE on YouTube featuring the four original Harlem Shakers themselves.

Wrecking Crew perhaps gave one of the most unforgettable performances of the night. The illuminated body poppers who have amassed millions of YouTube views of their blistering dance routines, brought a brand new sequence to the Social Star Awards which left the audience speechless and will no doubt be another viral sensation in days tocome.

There were also stunning solo performances from Carly Rae Jepsen, Sky Blu, Eric Benet, Blush and PSY who closed the show with a sensational performance of the songand dance that propelled him to internet infamy, Gangnam Style.

Big winners on the night included Ellen DeGeneres who won for most popular TV Show, Selena Gomez for most popular actress, FC Barcelona for most popular sports team, Cristiano Ronaldo for most popular Sportstar and the Brit Boy Band who have taken the world by storm, One Direction for most popular music group in addition to the most popular UK musician, most popular in the UK and most popular in West Europe awards given out via social media prior to the live awards show.

Accepting their award via video link, One Direction said: ‘“We wanna say a massive thank you for the Best Social Star Group of the year award. Thank you for our Starcount award, and we will see you soon!”

On accepting his award, Justin Bieber, said: “Thank you to all my fans that helped me win best solo artist. You guys are awesome!’

Paul Morrison and Drew Thomson, Joint CEOs of Starcount said, What an unbelievable end to an incredible few days. When we first began planning the Social Star Awards we always wanted to make sure we were doing something different, something unique and that we were bringing something completely new to the table and after the amazing show tonight and seeing the success of the past 24 hours and the response from fans and stars it feels like we have achieved what we set out to do.

However, this is just the very beginning and we are really excited about where we can take Starcount, Social Star Awards and the Singapore Social gigs, which kick off tomorrow, next!

Actress Park Shin Hye showed off her skill at cooking at her first solo fan meeting in China, which was held in Shanghai, on May 18. She made gimbap and introduced it to the Chinese fans. Wearing a beautiful apron, Park put the gimbap together using such ingredients as laver, rice, cucumber, carrot, ham, and shrimp in a calm and orderly way on the stage. Fans shouted for joy and marveled at the sight of her making the food so expertly.

The MC admiringly said, “Park Shin Hye’s kitchen skills are incredible.” Park replied, “I often cook at home when my mother is out. I’m especially good at making bean-paste stew (doenjang jjigae) and chicken roast (dak bokkeumtang).”

A highlight of the program was Park going out into the audience to feed her fans gimbap herself. The fans who got to try her gimbap showed great appreciations, and the other fans shouted out of envy.

Park’s agency, S.A.L.T. Entertainment, says, “We were surprised at great attention and support that Park Shin Hye’s first solo fan meeting in China got. Fans followed her every move, from her arrival at the airport to the end of the concert. Her recent appearances in Miracle In Cell No.7 and Flower Boy Next Door are drawing attention just because she’s in them, even though they haven’t been officially released in China.”

Park has been cast in SBS’s new drama series To Wear the Crown, One Must Bear the Crown – The Heirs, by writer Kim Eun Suk, who is well known for such series as Lovers in Paris, Secret Garden, andA Gentleman’s Dignity, Lee Min Ho has also been cast in thist promising work.

Kuala Lumpur, 20 May 2013 – Alternative K-Pop artist, TVXQ!, delighted thousands of Malaysian fans in a spectacular comeback show at Stadium Malawati last Saturday – an event that Cassiopeia throughout the country awaited for 6 years! The K-Pop phenomenon was greeted by an overwhelming cheer from the crowd as Max (Changmin) and U-Know (Yunho) took to the stage with their opening performance of Rising Sun.

Fans went wild with excitement as each of the boys serenaded the audience with a solo. Max’s heartfelt performance of Confession – a track written by him for TVXQ’s ‘Keep Your Head Down’ album was immediately followed by U-Know’s enchanting performance of Honey Funny Bunny. TVXQ! then went on to dazzle the audience with their dynamic hits – Humanoids, Catch Me and Mirotic, among other much loved tracks.

More than RM1.5 million was invested in the development of the TVXQ! concert stage, which was specially designed for the Malaysian fans to enjoy an intimate concert setting. The unique layout provided the audience with an up-close-and-personal experience with Max and U-Know as the boys dazzled spectators with signature dance moves, catchy beats and soulful serenades.

Last Saturday night’s performance was part of their comeback TVXQ! “Catch Me” Live World Tour, which has sold out stadiums and arenas across Asia. It also marked TVXQ!’s third appearance in Malaysia since the band was formed in 2003 and is their first time performing in Malaysia since briefly stepping out of the limelight 6 years ago. TVXQ!’s fan following in Malaysia has continued to grow in spite of their hiatus from the music scene, a fact made clear during the concert with many new fans joining thousands of long-time Cassiopeia as they sang and danced along to their favourite TVXQ! hits.

As the end to a spectacular evening neared and the boys left the stage, fans called for an encore – singing TVXQ’s ballad I Swear and waving banners in unison. 18 May 2013 – The first ever A-PRINCE Showcase Live in Singapore was held in DBS Arts Centre on the afternoon of 18^th May 2013. The showcase begun with You’re The Only One, which was written by MBLAQ’s G.O! The cute boys of A-PRINCE greeted their A-LAND present cheerfully with “Hello lah!”, and did their self-introduction in English!

A-PRINCE continued on with their showcase with their song Oh Girl, before proceeding on to cover TVXQ’s Hug and Mirotic, showing off their sleek dance moves. The host of the day, Ah Ken taught A-PRINCE Singlish phrases such as “chio” and “swee lah!”, which both means pretty. This introduced the next segment of A-PRINCE’s showcase, where the boys themselves gave criteria of their “chio girl”, to be chosen from amongst the audience. The lucky female fans who fit exactly into the criteria that A-PRINCE gave got to go up on stage and fulfill any requests with A-PRINCE, in which they requested individual hugs from the members and group photos with the boys.

It was leader Sungwon’s turn to shine on the stage as he showed off his vocal skills during his solo stage performance of a ballad song, M.C The Max’s 가슴아 그만해 (Stop, My Heart). After Sungwon’s soulful solo stage, the rest of the members joined him on stage to perform One Direction’s What Makes Your Beautiful. Sungwon displayed some of his English skills by greeting fans with “Hello, how are you? I’m fine, thank you!” before continuing on to another One Direction’s song, One Thing. The A-PRINCE boys showed off their cheeky side as they hit their butts against one another while dancing to the songs and even jumped off the stage to greet their fans.

Sungwon and Seungjun remained on stage to answer questions from the host as the other members went backstage to prepare for their next item. They revealed little known facts about themselves and the other members as well, such as their shoe sizes, which member loves taking pictures of flowers (it is Sungwon!) and which member likes collecting caps (Woobin). Under the request and guidance from the fans, the two boys did kwiyomi, making fans scream with each different action they performed.

The other 3 members, Minhyuk, Siyoon and Woobin re-appeared on stage dressed in blinged-out hoodies to perform Puff Daddy’s I’ll Be Missing You. Next up, A-PRINCE performed 3 of their new songs (2 of them titled My Lady and Mambo tentatively) which will be debuting in Korea soon – but lucky A-LAND in Singapore got the opportunity to watch them perform their new songs first! Their dance moves for the new songs showed off even more of A-PRINCE’s cute and boyish charms, as evident from the fans’ excited screams.

International fans’ dedication for the A-PRINCE boys can be seen, as a video created by their international fanbase, Unity of A-PRINCE was shown on screen where A-PRINCE watched together with their fans. Video cuts of fans wishing Woobin happy birthday were shown, followed by the A-PRINCE members’ video messages to Woobin, as well as Seungjun too. Birthday cakes were then brought up onto the stage, where the selected lucky fans celebrated this special moment with the boys on stage. Last but not least, A-PRINCE performed their hit song, Hello, much to the delight of the fans.

Any concerts or showcases of course does not end just like that, as A-PRINCE returned to stage after chants of encore from the audience, to perform PSY’s Gangnam Style and Gentleman! The unexpected performances garnered wild cheers from the fans, and this also successfully marked the end of A-PRINCE’s first ever showcase in Singapore. VIP ticket holders were entitled to an individual photo-taking session with A-PRINCE and all ticket holders were also entitled to A-PRINCE’s fansign session right after the showcase, where they got to interact with their favourite boys upclose.

23 May 2013 (Singapore) – Running Into the Sun is proud to announce that tickets to Super Junior’s  SUPER SHOW 5 concert in Singapore will be available from 1 June 2013, 10am.  Fans will be able to purchase tickets to the concert on 6 July 2013 from all SISTIC outlets.

A special VIP ticket category boasting the best view in the house has been created for the show to allow fans to get even closer to their idols while in the comfort of their seats. Having last performed at the SMTOWN Live World Tour III in Singapore in November last year, Super Junior will be back for the fifth installment of their Super Show World Tour concert series in early July.

Super Junior has proven that they are the undisputed kings of K-pop, having performed to a total of 900,000 audiences in their Asian and world tour since 2008. The group also made their first South American Tour this year, performing in major cities such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru, making it the first South American- 4 cities tour done by a Korean artiste. Fans have shown that they cannot get enough of Super Junior, with a total of 20,000 people attending SUPER SHOW 5 in Seoul.

SUPER SHOW 5, according to Super Junior, will see greater involvement from group members. For their latest concert series, Super Junior has taken an active role in the conceptualization and planning of the entire concert. Members have also actively given their input on costumes for the stage.

Besides I found a very special treasure the other day to make this sweet Goddess.

 And I did.

 

Flour, sweet glutenous rice flour, white sugar, light brown sugar, milk, yeast, peanuts, cinnamon, and black sesame seeds (optional).

Take your ordinary all purpose flour, and…

mix with sweet glutenous rice flour. This will help the texture of Hotteok crisp chewy.

Black sesame seeds are optional. If you have them, use them by all means.

Mix all together and add white sugar and some salt.

This is instant yeast – the kind you can mix with flour right away.
You can certainly see the colony of unicellular fungi who feeds millions of people around the world everyday in the name of BREAD.

I am one of the million today. Since it is instant I don’t need to proof the yeast. Loving it!

Now heat your milk in the microwave for a few seconds, about 15 seconds.

Stir the milk and stick your finger in.  If it feels nice and warm it is good to go.
If it feels hot to touch, then it will murder your yeasts.

Drop some oils…

And pour into the flour mixture.

Stir with your wooden spoon and…

mix until it becomes a monstrous sticky glob.

Cover with plastic wrap and keep it in somewhere warm.
For me, I just put in the microwave and shut the door.
Wait 30 minutes.

Voila! The dough has risen. He is truly alive!

Punch him to deflate. Let him rest for 5-10 minutes.

Meanwhile chop a little bit of your favorite nuts – I used peanuts.
Mix with brown sugar and cinnamon.

You will need to oil your hand.
I like to use disposable globe because I’m tired of washing my hands 75 times a day.

Tear a piece of dough and flatten down. Put 1 Tbsp of sugar mixture in the center.

Pinch all the corners together toward the center. Make sure there is no gaps or holes.
Play around first.

 

Use any bowl that has smooth round bottom. Something like this one below.

When your Hotteok puffs up slightly, flip to the other side. You will see the nice golden crust.

1. Mix flours, yeast, sesame seeds (if using), sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl. Pour lukwarm milk mixed with 1 tsp of oil to the flour mixture and mix everything with wooden spoon. The dough will be very sticky. Cover with plastic wrap and keep the bowl in a warm place for 30-45 minutes depends on the temperature in the room.
2. The dough should rise double in volume. Deflate the dough by punching it in the center and let it rest for another 5-10 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, mix brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon in a small mixing bowl.
4. Tear a piece of dough (about 1 1/2 – 2″ in diameter) and stretch out with your hand. Place 1 Tbsp of filling mixture in the center and pinch the edges of the dough toward the center to close making a ball shape.
5. Heat the pan with generous amount of oil over medium heat. Drop the dough and push it with spatula or a bowl with smooth bottom to flatten it. When you see the surface puffs up slightly, flip to the other side and continue to cook adding more oils if needed. It will get nice golden brown crust.
6. Serve hot immediately but be very cautious. The brown sugar syrup will be very hot! Enjoy!

18 May 2013 – TVXQ Catch Me Live Tour finally graced the Malaysian shores on 18 May 2013. A press conference was held just a few hours prior the concert show time. The legends, Yunho and Changmin arrived at the crowded ballroom and greeted both the media and fans in Korean and Malay.

Q: How do you feel returning to Malaysia after a 6-year gap?

Yunho (YH): It has indeed been a long time. But as usual, the Malaysian fans have welcomed us with their warmth and passion. We are very thankful for that and at the same time we are very sorry for having the fans wait for us so long.

Host: We missed you guys.

YH: We miss you too! (laughs) This sounds funny!

Q: This time around, what would you like to do in Malaysia?

Changmin (CM): We arrived last night and will be going back right after the show so we don’t really have any time to go look around. And for that we feel very sad. I hope we’ll be able to look around and gather more good memories next time.

YH: Usually during the tour/during concerts, we stayed at the hotel. But this time we’re living in a resort and it is a very good place. I hope that during the next visit I get to come to this resort again.

Q: So do you like the sun? Do you like the hot weather in Malaysia?

YH: It’s very hot. (in English)

Host: Do you like hot weather?

YH: Yea, I like it. I like sun. (in English)

Host: So maybe you can consider going to the swimming pool?

YH: I would have tried it if I had the time.

Q: What can fans expect from the concert tonight?

YH: The concert venue in Malaysia is smaller so the stage distance with the fans is very near. Therefore, I hope I can have more eye contact with the fans. That would be the most fun during the show and basically the show will be same as the other concerts of the tour.

CM: It’s been 6 years since our last visit to Malaysia and it has been a long time. I know that the fans have been waiting for us and we have been looking forward to meeting the fans too. So just being able to perform for the fans and be together with them makes us very happy.

Q: Because this is a world tour, everywhere you go you encounter different cultures and different people. So this time around in Malaysia do you have anything special installed for the fans?

YH: Basically, the concert will be the same as usual. What makes this concert special is that we get to share it with Malaysian fans and this makes me very happy. I will also perform some personal talents to show the fans.

Host: So maybe for tonight’s opening you guys will start with Malay greetings?

YH: Uh, I thought we will start with English. But surely we will send our most sincere greetings to the Malaysian fans like we did in other countries. And I think my Malay pronunciation sounds good so it’ll be okay.

YH: (adds) but I will probably say Kuala Lumpur rather than Malaysia.

Host: So can you say ‘apa khabar’ (hello)  for us?

YH: I think this phrase would be better used in the concert later.

Host: Maybe you want to learn other words, such as ‘I Love You’ in Malay?

Q: What do you have to say to all the Malaysian fans?

CM: Sorry to let you guys wait for us for 6 years. We will be performing many new songs tonight that you will be hearing for the first time. So I hope that tonight’s show will go on very smoothly and we can all have lots of fun together.

Host: Are you guys okay with talking for 10 minutes more?

YH: Yes.

Q: What do you do during your leisure time?

YH: Actually we’ve been very busy touring lately to respond to our fans love. So I don’t have a lot of time to spare. But if I do have time, I love to go bowling. And since the summer is coming, I would like to try marine sports as well, especially scuba diving.

Q: Changmin, how do you feel since you have started doing variety shows?

CM: Well it has been 10 years since I’ve taken on the role as a variety show host and I have met a lot of nice staffs and funny hyungs so I would like to give all my blessings to them.

YH: (points at Changmin) He is very funny.

CM: Thank you.

Q: Yunho, your airport fashion always attracts a lot of attention and you are always in trend. What would you prefer to wear on a normal day?

YH: Actually I don’t think that I am leading the airport fashion. I just discussed briefly with the staffs and wore it. But thanks for all the compliments that everyone’s been giving me. I’m most interested in sandals. So if there is a chance, I would love to show everyone the sandals.

Host: So do you collect sandals?

YH: Actually, I’m not collecting sandals. I usually wear sports shoes so I just find wearing sandals convenient.
