Seo Kang Joon was back in town last month, with fellow co-star Lee Dong Hwi to promote tvN’s latest drama, Entourage!
Following the success of his role as Baek In-ho for Cheese in the Trap, Seo Kang Joon is starring as a Movie Superstar in his first-ever lead role for Entourage. ‘Entourage’, a remake of a US TV Series, shares about the entertainment industry and the ‘bromance’ between 4 friends – Seo Kang-joon, Lee Gwang-soo, Lee Dong-hwi and Park Jung-min.
The pair (Seo and Lee) was in town on 22nd November 2016, for a Media Conference and private Fan Moment Session (Soda Pong Game and Group Photo Session) at Resorts World Sentosa Convention Center. They also had a public meet and greet session at Bugis Junction later in the evening.
During the Media Conference, both Seo and Lee recapped on many funny and memorable moments they had during the shoot. Seo shared that he did not feel like he was filming a drama as everyone was very comfortable with each other. They even toured around Busan (where the drama was mainly filmed at) together after filming. Even now, the group still gather together for beer while watching the broadcast on TV.
When asked about the differences between the characters from their previous drama (Cheese in the Trap for Seo; Reply 1988 for Lee) and Entourage, both shared that it was vastly different. Seo shared that Baek In-ho’s character was simpler to portray as he was just trying to find his dream. Cha Yong-bin on the other hand was a very genuine character which grew with various experiences along the way. For Lee, his character in Reply 1988 was very lonely whereas in Entourage, he had famous friends, a witty character that is able to make a comeback on everything.
Both Seo and Lee also shared that their real life is rather different from their role in Entourage. Unlike the top-star status Cha Yong-bin was portrayed in the drama, Seo humbly feels that he has yet to reach the top-star status. In real life, he prefers to hang out at home with his cat or visit the Hangang river whereas his high-society and fun-seeking reel-life is something that he was unfamiliar with. However, he mentioned that one similarity he had with Cha Yong-bin was that he will do all he can to make his friends happy.
Similarly, Lee’s real life is also distinctly different from Turtle’s character. Lee is a lot more independent and prefers staying at home playing Playstation unlike Turtle, who had to depend a lot on his friends and plays outside everyday.
This drama allows viewers to understand more about the entertainment industry and it also shows character development through all the experiences and trials each character goes through.
