It was a dream come true for Korean drama fans as the first ever concert dedicated to Korean drama OSTs – Korean Drama OST Night, featuring some of the original singers took place last Wednesday night at the Star Theatre, where they got to hear some of their favourite drama theme songs live.

GB9-01

The concert first began with vocal duo GB9, as they started the night with Kim Bum Soo’s I Miss You (보고싶다) from one of the all-time favourite Korean dramas, Stairway To Heaven. The two-member vocal group continued to perform a series of hit favourites: Park Hyo Shin’s Snow Flower (눈의 꽃) from I’m Sorry I Love You, Shin Seung Hun’s I Believe from My Sassy Girl and Ryu’s From The Beginning Until Now (처음부터 지금까지) from Winter Sonata. GB9 ended off their segment with their own song, Going Crazy (미칠 것 같아).

U-Sung-Eun

Talented vocalist U Sung Eun took over the stage next, starting with Byul’s I Think I from Full House, followed by Yoon Mirae’s Touch Love from Master’s Sun and Lyn’s My Destiny from You Who Came From The Stars. The audience were swaying side to side, immersed in U Sung Eun’s performances as she performed amazing renditions of these well-known drama OSTs live. U Sung Eun also performed her debut song, Be OK, before GB9 joined her on stage once again to perform a duet of J & HowL’s Perhaps Love (사랑인가요) from the well-loved Goong series.

K.Will-01

Finally, it was the series of performances that most of the audience present were waiting for – from the king and queen of K-drama OSTs. First up, K. Will started his series of performances with Like A Star (별처럼) from the wildly popular You Who Came From The Stars drama. K. Will continued to perform The Only Person (하나뿐인 사람) from the recent drama Pinocchio, followed by a melancholic Love Is Punishment (사랑은 벌이다) from Brilliant Legacy. Although many Korean fans were present as well, it was most of their first time hearing him perform Growing (꽃이 핀다), one of his recent tracks that has been still topping Korean music charts.

It was K. Will’s first time in Singapore and he did not expect the amount of fans who turned up to watch him perform and even screamed for him. K. Will ended off his segment with Real Love Song from The Greatest Love, followed by My Heart Is Beating (가슴이 뛴다).

Baek-Z-Young-01

Last but not least, the queen of K-drama OSTs, Baek Ji Young finally took to the stage, starting with two of her most popular drama hit songs – Don’t Forget (잊지 말아요) from IRIS and That Woman (그 여자) from Secret Garden. The next song she performed was After A Long Time (한참 지나서) from Rooftop Prince, of which the drama was significant to her as her husband, Jung Suk Won acted in the drama too. She also revealed that she named her puppy after his character in the drama!

Baek Ji Young continued to perform more songs from various dramas, which predominantly featured actor Hyun Bin inside, to which she commented that they do share a special relationship. The audience was captivated by her vocals as she performed Because Of You from Hyde Jekyll, Me, Spring Rain (봄비) from Gu Family Book and Fervor (불꽃) from Fatal Encounter.

Besides being known for her ballad songs, Baek Ji Young is also all-rounded in other genres, as she asked the audience to rise and go crazy with her during her dance track performances of Bad Girl and My Ear’s Candy – and to much surprise and delight, her male counterpart for My Ear’s Candy was actually her manager!

The Korean Drama OST Night ended on a good note, as the drama tracks performed by the talented artistes definitely brought back many good drama memories and nostalgia to the audience.
