29 September 2012, Jakarta – Located in an open space in Senayan Jakarta, Timothy Youngmin Hwang who is more widely known as Tim Hwang mesmerized his fans with a romantic and sweet performance. This was Tim’s first solo concert in Indonesia, and he was gaining popularity in Indonesia after his appearance in Indonesian drama “Saranghaeyo I Love You”.
Tim opened his concert with an unexpected appearance from the back of the crowd. He sang some tracks from his albums and singles and made the audience sing along. Apart from his own songs, Tim also perform a medley of other songs. He started the first part of the concert with an acoustic medley of English popular hits such as Justin Bieber’s “Baby-Baby”, Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are”. With fireworks and sparks from the stage, the audience stood and dance with Tim.
The concert in Jakarta was very special for Tim, because he has had a pretty close relationship with this country after his drama recording. Special for Indonesian fans, he sang “Can’t It be me” from the drama “49 Days”. Tim had never sang this song in any concert before. He specially sang this song because he heard that the drama is very popular in Indonesia.
After his sweet performance of the drama OST, Tim entertained the fans with a medley of popular KPOP songs. “My name is Tim but I’m not a part of a team. Tonight I want to pretend that I’m a part of KPOP boy and girl group”, he said. He sang 2NE1’s “I Don’t Care” and Wonder Girls’ “Nobody”. The KPOP medley did not stop there, a video of Super Junior’s Choi Siwon was played on the big screen. Siwon showed his support for Tim and asked the audience to enjoy the show. Tim closed the KPOP medley with Super Junior’s “Sorry Sorry” and PSY’s “Gangnam Style”, which was changed into “Oppa KPOP Style”.
In the next segment of the show, Tim read two poems written by Indonesian fans for him. The poems are so romantic and touching that it made him smile while he read them. Tim also did a short re-enactment from the drama “Saranghae I Love You” with the other cast. He also sang Indonesian songs from the drama. He also performed like a rock star with Queen’s “We Will Rock You”, “I Want To Break Free” and “We are the Champion”. A huge confetti and a bunch of lampions were flown to the sky of Jakarta closing his rocking performance.
Tim ended his first solo concert in Jakarta with a popular Indonesian song by Andra and The Backbone titled Sempurna which mean “Perfect” in English. Tim who knew some Indonesian language he learned from the drama, read a letter for the audience in Bahasa Indonesia. He said in Bahasa Indonesia which literally means “I’m not a perfect person, but your presence made me perfect. I Love you”.
